Hermes 3000 — Seafoam

Acquired this from an estate sale in early 2026. The previous owner had kept it in its original case, which preserved the platens well. The ribbon needed replacing and the escapement had some stickiness from dried lubricant, but after a cleaning it types beautifully.

What I did

• Cleaned the typebars and type slugs with denatured alcohol
• Relubricated the escapement and carriage rails with Nyoil
• Replaced the ribbon with a fresh black/red
• Light exterior cleaning with 303 Protectant on the case

Notes for next time

The margin release is slightly stiff — likely needs adjustment at the pawl. Not a functional problem but worth addressing.
